The variety-packed programme ranges from skidoo rides to cross-country skiing, to a hike by torchlight with a stop-off for some mulled spiced cider in the AVIVA Alm. Including magical snowflakes and that rosy cheek feeling. For a winter holiday in the AVIVA is all about relaxing, forging contact and forgetting about the stresses of daily life!

Cross-country skiing in the AVIVA.

Located at almost 1000 metres altitude, on the rooftop of Mühlviertel, the AVIVA is also a real hotspot for cross-country skiers! With the variety-packed and extensive slope network cross-country fun in classic and skating style is a cert!

Cross-country skiing in a winter wonder world!

With almost 40 km of tracked cross-country slopes and winter hiking trails right on the hotel doorstep (55km skating) the word ‘cross-country’ really can be taken quite literally. The slopes stand out thanks to their small ascents and descents, which can be effortlessly tackled by beginners too. Your skis glide with ease through the undulating landscape, through forests and across pastures – while the heart of every cross-country skier sings...

A total of 4 slopes and a sunny winter hiking trail await keen skaters and cross-country skiers and beginners alike. Crystal-clear air, snow-covered trees, pastures and fields, a deep blue sky and the unique AVIVA panorama – on the slopes around the AVIVA you get to experience winter in Mühlviertel in a particularly magical way. The freshly tracked slopes entice you to the glistening tracks in the landscapes and provide the best conditions to explore the surrounding area, boost your fitness and enjoy the pure winter wonder world.

It’s as though the soft rolling landscape around the AVIVA was made for cross-country. On the sunny levels between the forests here on the Czech border extensively and very well prepared cross-country slopes are accessible to beginners and experts alike. A 7 km slope runs from the AVIVA to its sister hotel the BERGERGUT and back, while the skating slope from the AVIVA reaches St. Stefan and the Helfenbergerhütte. To complement this, a 4 km slope proceeds around the BERGERGUT and a 9 km panorama slope heads from the AVIVA to St. Stefan and, as its name suggests, offers a  spectacular view to the Alps.

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing provides a fitness course outdoors. And cross-country skiing is a meditative exercise. This sport which uses cross-country skis is more current today  than ever. Gliding and floating through the landscape is a superb leisure activity for a winter holiday. As well as classic cross-country style, demand is growing for cross-country skating.

The movement during cross-country skiing stimulates fitness and builds muscle, while body & soul get to re-energise in equal measure while gliding through the winter landscape. Cross-country skiing is pure  winter pleasure, the icy natural surroundings are within reach, and in a particularly peaceful way.
