You deserve it! Yes, work and everyday life today is exhausting and often takes a lot of energy. A holiday in the Mühlviertel means recharging your batteries, a single holiday in the AVIVA in a hotel that is unique in Europe will give you a lot of energy through wellness, sport and of course with lots of new friends. We make sure of this and we also guarantee you an ecologically and socially sustainable holiday.
One of our company’s goals is to ensure the best possible nature conservation and protection of our resources. We have therefore changed many internal processes to achieve this goal. Thanks to our many activities to achieve sustainability, we have been recognized as a climate alliance company. Since May 2023, we have also been officially awarded the EU Ecolabel and the Austrian Ecolabel !
Our activities are diverse:
- PV system with 440kWp on the parking lot roof and 63kWp on the hotel roof. This generates around 70% of the annual electricity requirement.
- Rainwater cistern with 32,000 liters for use in the hotel’s laundry
- 4-day work week for many employees – by eliminating the 5th working day per week, all employees save a total of around 2,000 km per month on travel to/from work
- Employees receive a Mercedes Benz EQA electric vehicle at a low cost with the option of charging at one of the 6 charging stations
- environmentally friendly pellet heating for heat and hot water in the hotel
- Solar system additionally for hot water production
- Intelligent control of heating (e.g. if rooms are unoccupied, the computer reduces the room temperature)
- intelligent lighting control and LED or energy-saving lamps
- Best possible use of water and hot water through water-saving measures
- Avoiding food buffets, which usually generate higher food waste
- Hotel’s own herb garden for direct use of around 20 types of herbs for the kitchen (no transport, no storage required)
- around 80% of food and drinks have a shorter journey than 50 km
- Direct production of beer in the hotel’s own brewery – no transport required
- Possibility for guests to arrive by train and continue with a cost-effective shuttle from Linz and Passau
- AVIVA offers guests a ride sharing service on the website – guests can easily share the arrival/departure
- Guests simply have the option of forgoing room cleaning and/or towel changing. We will deduct €5 per night and guest from the hotel bill.
- Avoiding waste by avoiding disposable and small packaging
- precise waste separation according to legal regulations
- Hotel’s own laundry – all laundry is washed in the hotel – so we don’t need to rent laundry, which is usually transported to the Czech Republic, Slovakia or Poland, washed and brought back again. This saves around 120,000km of truck journeys.
- Use of environmentally friendly cleaning products
- The entire communication process during booking is computer-based – paper is therefore not required
- Digital guest information folder and app for the daily sports and entertainment program – thus saving countless pages of paper
- We care for our nature & biodiversity by planting our green spaces and treating nature & animals with respect
Are you a guest with us and would like to make your contribution? We have collected a few ideas for you here:
- Travel by public transport and use our AVIVA Shuttle or our ride sharing service to reduce your CO2 emissions
- Bring your own flip-flops to reduce plastic waste
- Reuse your towels to reduce water consumption
- Use our Green Option … this means you can skip the room cleaning and towel change. In return, we will deduct €5 per night and guest from your hotel bill
- Only eat as much as you really like and fight food waste
- Separate your garbage correctly even on vacation
- Feel free to bring your own bathrobe and reduce water consumption
