Hiking vacation alone or together? Both are possible at the Hotel AVIVA – hiking hotel for singles!
The daily sports and activity program includes guided hikes, snowshoe hikes, Nordic walking, earthing, forest bathing or leisurely jogging on the numerous hiking trails of the Mühlviertel in the Bohemian Forest several times a week. But there are also hiking routes of every difficulty level available for those who want to go it alone. The gently rolling landscape of the Bohemian Forest, always accompanied by a breathtaking view of the Alps and in the immediate vicinity of small streams and the Lipno reservoir in the Czech Republic, is the hiking paradise par excellence.
During the AVIVA single hiking days, the Mühlviertel and the Bohemian Forest are explored together with other single guests on different guided hikes every day. The single hotel AVIVA is now the hiking hotel AVIVA, as the starting point for all hikes is always the hotel AVIVA and luggage can be conveniently left in the room.
In winter and summer, we explore the most beautiful corners of this impressive region on guided hikes along the numerous marked hiking trails to the Czech Republic, to the border triangle of Bavaria, Bohemia and Upper Austria, along the former Iron Curtain and today’s nature reserve. Of course, a stop at alpine pastures and inns is a must on a hiking vacation for singles in the Mühlviertel.
The hikes lead exclusively on marked hiking trails, are accompanied by an AVIVA sports trainer, usually start at 10 a.m. (so that the delicious breakfast buffet can be enjoyed at leisure) and last between 2 and 5 hours (approx. 8 – 20 km and 100 – 500 meters in altitude). Less fit people are also welcome to take part, as the program can also be taken on a daily basis, as the starting point for the single hiking days is always the AVIVA Hotel. The hiking days for singles in the AVIVA in the Mühlviertel take place in all weather conditions.
After the hike, the AVIVA Spa is available for relaxation or how about a relaxing massage for tired legs? In the evening, the experience is recalled over dinner together . A trip to the AVIVA Dance Club or to the AVIVA Alm is the perfect way to round off the day on a hiking holiday for singles.

This hike consists of the Small Forest Chapel Loop.
Once you reach the forest chapel, the hiking trail continues along a meadow path to the Gabauer fish farm. There you cross the Steinerne Mühl and continue hiking across the Hofau. After crossing the Steinerne Mühl again, the hike returns to the starting point.

Idyllic circular path along an energy circle.
The hiking trail leads over the “stone walls” (huge, natural stone heap) to the Maria Rast forest chapel. The holy water, several cup stones and an energy circle are located in the immediate vicinity. From the chapel, you hike back to the starting point via forest and meadow paths.

Visit the former municipality of Schönegg on a hike.
The hiking trail goes along farm tracks, forest and meadow paths and forest roads. During the hike you pass the “Iron Curtain” memorial, the sports field with a bike station and drinking water fountain. The hiking trail then crosses the Steinerne Mühl in the Hintermühle area (the “Schönegger Achtln” ecological area is about 1 km away). You have the opportunity to take a culinary break in the Mühlviertler Speckstüberl or at the Gasthof Freller. From there the hike continues to the romantically located Maria Rast forest chapel with the holy water, an unusual and powerful stone and spring cult site. The hiking trail leads a short section along the Nordwaldkammweg.

The hike leads to the one-story “Iron Curtain”.
The hiking trail is almost entirely on Czech territory and leads through the former death zone at the Iron Curtain. From the Hotel Guglwald, the “Iron Curtain” hiking trail leads north through the untouched Mühlviertel nature. The hike leads past Spáleniště towards Kaličky and back to the Hotel Guglwald. A detour to the memorial, where a section of the Iron Curtain has been rebuilt, is highly recommended. Please don’t forget your passport.

Hike to Upper Austria’s largest wind farm.
Wonderful hiking trail to and through the Sternwald wind farm, which with its nine wind turbines is the largest wind farm in Upper Austria. More than 10% of household electricity is produced here in an environmentally friendly and renewable way

The hiking trail leads through the village of Guglwald in Vorderweißenbach on 80% farm tracks. A small section of the Guglwald loop leads through a forest path. Hiking boots are recommended as the path in the forest is partially damp.

Hiking trail with a view!
The short hike starts at the Hotel Bergergut and leads over meadows and forest paths to a panoramic view. Here you can enjoy the great view as far as the Piberstein and Waxenberg castles. After a sufficient break, the hiking trail continues to a farm track. From here the hike leads back to the starting point on the road

A hiking trail across the border to the Czech Republic-Austria border.
The hike to St. Thomas is an extension of the Grenzsteig hiking trail. After the Schwedenschanze, you pass the destroyed Multerberg (Mezilesi) to the border crossing into the Czech Republic. Via the old road to Reiterschlag (Pasecna) and up “die Linden” you reach Svaty Tomas (St. Thomas) and the Wittinghausen ruins (Vítkův hrádek). From the viewing platform you get a breathtaking view of the Moldau reservoir, deep into the Czech Republic and into the Austrian Alps. The same route takes you back to Multerberg to Innenschlag via the Grenzsteig back to this starting point. From the border, the walk takes about 3 hours there and back. Enjoy nature along the hiking trail Nature enjoyment
A leisurely hike along the Mühlviertler Wadles from the Hotel AVIVA towards the Helfenbergerhütte to the Hotel Bergergut and back. If you feel like it, you can also make a short detour to the panoramic view. The path is signposted.

A hike on the balcony of Upper Austria.
From the starting point, the hike leads through the “Sagenwald” and “Stefanstritt” past the “Teufelssitz” and Drudenstein. Via Oberriedl and Haid you reach Dambergschlag. There you are offered a fantastic view of the Mühlviertel and the Alps. From the “Schaukelwald” and the Hintring (922 m) the hiking trail leads back to St. Stefan.

Hike through Franzl’s hunting grounds.
At the beginning of the hiking trail, the route goes along the Nordwaldkammweg towards Köckendorf, then further towards Piberschlag and back to Guglwald. The hiking trail has the illustrious name “Franz’l im Holz” because most of the trail leads through hunter Franzl’s hunting grounds.

From the starting point in St. Stefan, the hiking trail leads a little uphill. Once you reach the top, an animal resting place awaits you. Finally, the hike leads downhill across a small fish pond to the starting point. Information about nature and wildlife will make you forget that you have been exercising and doing something good for your health during your hiking holiday in the Mühlviertel.

Feel the effect of the Mühlviertel power places.
Starting from the Mühlviertler Speckstüberl, you hike via the former Schönegg/Afiesl municipal office to the Maria Rast forest chapel. There you will find holy water, several cup stones and an energy circle. From the forest chapel, the hiking trail leads back to the municipal office via the forest road. You hike back to the starting point via the Wurmweg and the Piberschlag farm track. If you do not go up to the forest chapel, the route is shortened by 1.5km (approx. 30min).

The hike follows historical traces along the Austrian-Czech border to the Iron Curtain memorial. Information boards tell you about the construction and history of the Iron Curtain. At the PoimerIfang (viewpoint) you can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the Mühlviertel hills.

On the trail of the Stone Mill.
Starting from the Hotel Guglwald, the hike leads to the former blacksmith’s shop at the Steinerne Mühl. From there, the route continues along idyllic forest and woodland paths through Count Revertera’s hunting grounds. Towards the end of the route, you can visit the traditional Mühlviertel weaving mill Kitzmüller to browse through their wide range of products.

Experience the forest idyll of the Mühlviertel
The hiking trail branches off to the right about 500 m north of the Hotel Bergergut and leads along the edge of the forest to the first legendary “stone haystack”. The hike continues along an old “trodden” path to the “stone circle”. At the end, the same path leads back.

Experience a journey through European history.
The Grenzsteig hiking trail leads over the Schwedenschanze to the Helfenberger Hut. You then hike back partly through Czech territory. The Schwedenschanze is a wall that was built to protect the war gate during the Thirty Years’ War. From here you can hike to St. Thomas (Svaty Tomas). From the border, the walk takes about 3 hours there and back. Please don’t forget your passport!
