Bike Days – Riding Without Limits
6 days away from the daily grind. 4 days riding together. And plenty of time to meet new people.
You wake up, grab your bike, and know: Today we’re off again.
A new route, new scenery—and above all: a group to ride with.
AVIVA Bike Days aren’t about who gets to the top fastest or covers the most kilometers. It’s about setting off together, having fun along the way, and coming back at the end of the day with a few new friends. We ride along small roads and forest trails through the Mühlviertel, cross the border, and explore the countryside around the Bohemian Forest. Sometimes a bit more challenging, sometimes completely relaxed. Always as a group.
And that’s exactly what makes the Bike Days special:
You might arrive alone – but you won’t set off alone.
During the first group technique training session, you’ll get to know each other. Then it’s on from day to day: over the Mühlviertel hills, to Lake Moldaustausee, and into the Šumava National Park. In between, there’s plenty of time for breaks, conversations, a little silliness, and the question: “Shall we go for another lap?”
You don’t have to be a pro, and you don’t have to arrive with a set group of fellow cyclists.
You just need to be in the mood for cycling, new trails, and nice people.
Because it’s often the moments off the trail that stick with you:
sharing a coffee after the climb, laughing about the wrong turn, the long descent, or that first after-ride drink with people you didn’t even know a few days earlier.
Park your bike. Take off your shoes. Take a deep breath.
Head to the wellness area, take a dip in the pool, or hang out at the bar together.
Out and about together during the day. Enjoying the evening together.
Four days of biking. New trails. New people.
And maybe a friendship or two that will continue even after the Bike Days are over.
Your Bike Days. Your crew. Your getaway.
Minimum number of participants: 3 people

Monday – 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – BIKE ABC
Technique. Safety. More Fun.
To kick off your Bike Week, we’ll focus on proper technique. Together with our instructor Maximilian Karlsböck, you’ll work on your riding technique and learn valuable tips for greater safety and control on the bike. The program covers proper seating position, balance, braking, cornering, riding uphill and downhill, and much more. Bike ABC is the perfect way to get ready for the upcoming tours – and maybe even try out a new technique or two.
Tuesday – 10:00 a.m. to approx. 2:30 p.m. – Mühlviertel Highlands & Panorama Loop
Sweeping views. Narrow trails. The Mühlviertel at its best.
To kick off the week of tours, we head straight from the AVIVA into the gently rolling hills of the Upper Mühlviertel. This varied loop takes us along quiet side roads, forest trails, and gravel paths through the typical hilly landscape of the Mühlviertel. Passing Helfenberg and the historic Waxenberg, you’ll encounter magnificent views, small villages, and plenty of opportunities to simply relax and take in the unique landscape.
35–40 km | approx. 600–700 hm | moderate
Our tip: The perfect way to kick off Bike Week – varied, scenic, and with just the right amount of challenge.
Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to approx. 2:30 p.m. – Moldau Reservoir & Lipno
Cycling without borders. Lake, scenery, and a touch of adventure.
Today we’ll head straight from AVIVA across the border into the Czech Republic and on to the impressive Moldau Reservoir. The roughly 37-kilometer tour winds through the varied landscape of the Bohemian Forest all the way to the Lipno Reservoir. Riding along the water’s edge gives us time to enjoy the unique scenery before we take the ferry (€3.50) across a section of the lake. Of course, a group stop for refreshments is a must before we head back to AVIVA via forest and meadow trails.
approx. 37 km | 550 hm | moderate
Our tip: A tour with a real vacation vibe—crossing the border, the lake, the ferry, and a group stop for refreshments make this ride a special experience.
Thursday – 10:00 a.m. to approx. 3:00 p.m. – ŠUMAVA ADVENTURE
Wittinghausen Castle Ruins & Šumava National Park
The grand finale of the bike tour. Starting directly from AVIVA, the route crosses the border into the Czech Republic and into the Šumava National Park. The tour winds through the impressive forest landscape up to the Wittinghausen Castle Ruins at around 1,050 meters above sea level. Those who wish can walk the last few meters to the ruins and enjoy the view. Afterward, the route takes you through the national park and back toward AVIVA along varied forest trails.
37 km | approx. 680 hm | moderate
The highlight: the border, the national park, the castle, and nature – all in one day of biking.
Program subject to change. You can find the current tour times in the AVIVA app.
