Salsa Cubana Rueda Special – Dance Workshop at AVIVA
Experience the lively world of authentic Cuban salsa—full of energy, music, community, and fun!
In our Salsa Cubana Rueda Special, the focus is on fun, simple, and fast short figures as well as varied group figures. Special Rueda formations like Rueda a fuera, Confusion, Mixta, or Cruzado add variety, dynamism, and plenty of joy to the dance.
As always, having fun is our top priority!
By dancing in a circle (“Rueda de Casino”), you’ll regularly switch partners and moves. This not only improves your sense of the dance but also strengthens your leading and following skills, your technique, and your ability to interact with the group. This way, you’ll learn faster, with more confidence, and have a lot of fun.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is intended exclusively for participants who have completed Salsa Cubana Rueda beginner courses and have a solid command of the following fundamentals:
- Basic steps in all variations—Basico, Guapea, Back2Back, Sidesteps, etc.
- Basic figures such as Dame, Vacila, Sombrero, Enchufe Doble, Setenta, and other basic movements
- Advanced Salsa Cubana Dance Workshop—Well-known figures will be explored in greater depth, expanded upon, and technically refined.

Important note:
There will be no beginner dance workshop this week—so this workshop is not suitable for those new to salsa.
Important Information
Shoes & Clothing: Dance shoes made of leather or regular leather, sneakers, or comfortable, soft shoes are recommended / Be sure to bring plenty of a change of clothes—we’ll make you sweat!
Dance Partners: My dance partner and a guest dancer are also available. We cannot guarantee an equal number of male and female participants. Thanks to the circle formation and partner swapping, any surplus of one gender is easily managed.

Georg Franz Kalandra & Georg is supported as a co-instructor by Peter, a dance fitness instructor with many years of dance experience.
As an enthusiastic dance coach, I’ve been involved with salsa for over 20 years and teach this dance with great passion. In Cuba, I learned authentic salsa—including all the associated Afro-based dances—in numerous courses from and with local dance instructors, and I earned a diploma. I bring a lot of energy to my classes and tailor the content to the needs of my dance group. This ensures a great dance experience and personal success for both beginners and advanced dancers.
