- 10.00 – approx. 14.30 Hike through the Pesenbach Valley
- Moss-covered granite blocks, sections called ‘blue alley’, ‘blue pond’ or ‘stone roof’, are unique natural beauties in the Pesenbach Valley. The Pesenbach rushes through the gorge and gorge-like valley with its healing effect.
- The course of the stream changes direction several times, so that the riverside paths that accompany it offer a rich variety of shade and sunny spots. The Kerzenstein, a mystical formation of granite rocks piled on top of each other and polished by the wind, is the landmark of the Pesenbach valley.
- Legends and myths of the Pesenbach Valley: The devil’s vats are large, round basins in the stream, in which, according to legend, the devil is said to live. Other myths claim that the vats served as bathing places for the devil. The water of the Pesenbach is whirled up at these points. (Approx. 10 km, walking time: approx. 3 hours, ascent approx. 300 metres)

The Iron Curtain, which stretched from the Arctic Ocean (Norway/Finland-Soviet Union) to the Black Sea (Bulgaria) after the end of the Second World War until 1989, and the Berlin Wall (1961-1989) were militarily fortified border fortifications erected by the Warsaw Pact states against the neighbouring western-oriented countries and Yugoslavia. On 2 May 1989, Hungary began dismantling the ‘Iron Curtain’ on the border with Austria. On 11 December 1989, commandos of the Czechoslovak border troops began to remove the barbed wire entanglements of the Iron Curtain on the border with Austria everywhere between Bratislava and Wullowitz using wire cutters.
